Myrt and Marge (1931-1946)

Originally aired at nighttime and moved to daytime, Myrt and Marge focused on the lives of a mother and daughter. The program followed these chorus girls’ adventures with bootleggers and gangsters. It also featured the mother-daughter relationship as Marge matured and got married.


The Romance of Helen Trent (1933-1960)

Created by the Hummerts, this program told the adventures of Helen Trent “who sets out to prove to herself what so many women long to prove in their own lives: that because a woman is thirty-five or more, romance in life need not be over, that the romance of life can extend into middle life, and even beyond.”


Ma Perkins (1935-1956)

Again created by the Hummert team, this program told the story of Map Perkins, a widow who ran her dead husbands lumberyard and supervised a large and unruly family.


Mary Noble, Backstage Wife (1935-1959)

The story centered around the life of Mary a small town girl who moved to New York City and married Larry Noble a prominent actor and “matinee idol.” Jealousy often nagged at Mary and her trust and love for her husband was tested nearly everyday.


Young Widder Brown (1938-1956)

Young Widder Brown told the story of Ellen, a 30 year-old widow, struggling to raise her children and manage a tea room in the small town of Simpsonville.
